Simple Ways To Create Sensible Witchiness In Your Life
I’m often asked, “What is The Sensible Witch really about? Is it about teaching people witchcraft?” And my honest response to this is that anything can be witchcraft. Or more importantly, anything can be turned into a ritual — as long as there’s intention behind it.
Let’s use gardening as an example. My garden is a place where I’ve created magic and ritual. Yep! Within a little space of my own backyard. Sure, going out to the garden brings me a tasty harvest each year, but it’s so much more than that. It requires intentional watering, regular care and nurturing along the way. And in that intention it’s about honoring cycles, honoring creation and honoring patience.
Here are some simple ways to create sensible witchiness in your life (that you may not even be considering!):
Tending to your garden/plants you keep at home
Cooking or baking in the kitchen
Creating deliberate moments of silence - on a walk, exercising, or meditating
Getting reconnected to old family stories
Taking on anything with a creative process - music, art, writing
— really any routine can become a ritual once you start being mindful of the purpose and process.
I've shared before that sight can be such a powerful tool for setting intention, and I've found the same to be just as true for smell. Dabbing on some intention oils in the shower, or before I start my calls for the day, causes me to take a few extra moments to just breathe, reflect, and be present to what aromas I can detect. I love incorporating my oils from Modern Druid into my daily practice.
Your turn! Where are you being (or do you want to start being) a sensible witch in your life?
